IXD102 ( 30250 ) - Introduction to Communication Design. 2022-23.

Overview

Although never official, I considered myself to be Team Leader within this project. This meant initiating conversations within the group about meeting up to discuss content, or put in place structures and/or deadlines for group reviews.

These reviews weren’t always met successfully within the time frame I had hoped, the group (all but one) managed to come together outside lecturing days and review the work and design ideas we had so far. This was very beneficial I believe, as it meant we could progress forward into finalising presentation design and layout, something of which I felt was left too last minute due to guidance and reviews not being met.

It was also a new experience as I don’t typically hold leadership roles. I considered this project to be a major learning curve, especially when working with other designers; although challenging at times for its own unique reasons, my personal communication skills improved because of this. I am able to understand peoples perspectives and collab with different design styles, all while ensuring the project moved forward and each member within the group was on the same page of understanding.

Overall, I somewhat enjoyed this project.

Personal Research

For recording my own personal research, I created a word document of which you can review via the link provided below.

Miro Board

I created a Miro Board so as a group, we could collaborate on design ideas and review the presentation. This idea and structure turned out to be successful, as it enabled each member to be aware of their responsibility towards the presentation, while keeping track of everyone's progress.

Design

The design for this presentation needed to be creative, fitting with content and be coherent. The process in reaching a design style was stressful, but the finished outcome looks pretty decent.
